COMMUNITY STRATEGIC LEAD

JOB PURPOSE

To lead the development and innovation of YCC’s existing and future community ministries engaging the church and the community in their development and delivery; working collaboratively with other members of the Strategy Team to ensure alignment with the wider Leadership Team and YCC’s vision.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

To provide oversight to YCC’s current outward facing ministries (for example Yeovil4Family, 4Family (replication), Homeless Project, Job Club etc)

To develop a cohesive strategy and effective coordination across YCCs range of community focused ministries 

To develop new outward facing ministries including but not limited to Mental Health, Schools and Elderly

To provide support and leadership to those people leading (or seeking to lead) these ministries

To identify and resource any training and development needs required to support staff and volunteers working in these areas

To ensure consistent values, vision and systems across the social ministries of YCC 

To liaise and work in partnership with other churches, agencies and charities who are working in these areas to ensure a coherent and effective approach

To identify partners and sources of funding for outward facing ministries

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience

Proven experience in innovation and delivery of projects
Working within a team with leadership responsibility
Management and development of volunteers and staff
Evidence of effective networking and collaboration across organisations to deliver excellent outcomes
Experience of leading within a Christian context, displaying maturity and wisdom

[It is vital that this person be closely integrated with the leadership team. Our expectation is that they will swiftly demonstrate the maturity of Christian character & understanding such that (if not already a part of the team) they can be confidently commended to the church to serve in this role.]

Skills and Abilities

A self-motivated initiator and problem-solver
Effective written and verbal communicator to a wide range of audiences
Strategic organisational leadership skills, showing an ability to manage and adapt complex systems, using effective creative and critical thinking
Well-established ability to motivate and manage others, including sensitively handling conflict & confrontation~
Able & willing to work flexibly
